Emily is a family photographer in Northwest Washington dedicated to the holistic family life cycle, from pregnancy and the early days of parenthood, to the eventual empty nest.

Her goal is simple: document families with integrity and care.

Every person deserves a witness to their life— you are a sweet piece of cosmic magic, here raising children, making a home, building a life, living through grief and joy and pain and love. A testament to the unbroken chains of women who birthed you, families that lived and died all to bring you here.

about the artist

Emily is a photographer with over ten years of experience behind the camera, however the bulk of her inspiration to photograph families came after the birth of her first son in 2022.

Since then, she’s dedicated herself to trying to bottle the spark of light that children leave in their wake, and the women who carry them. She’s obsessed with the details of a well-loved life, an intentional, collected home, and places where people know your name.

She really loves being a mom, and all the ways the birth of a child allows the rebirth of a mother.

She has a few sacred daily rituals: a hot cup of coffee in the morning, sitting on the porch with her eyes closed, and washing her face before bed.

Why I use film.

I believe in magic and humanity. Film is where they merge to bring the warmth and nostalgia of a childhood memory to life. It is deeply human to try and hold things we can’t grasp, to reach out for the mirage of certainty. To try and freeze time.

Film is playful, transcendent, and alive. It feels like a memory and glimmers around the edges, a documentary medium that brings you right back to how it felt, no matter how long has passed.
